Hello again,

Thanks to the helpful advice of this forum I've now got my entire CD collection imported error free.. My next step is to re-convert from FLAC to MP3 so that I can export to my MP3 player. I have re-checked the documentation and I have tried to search for through this forum, is there an elegant way to convert my whole library (or at least most of it) to MP3 in one go that I can copy to an external storage (i.e. MP3 player). I realise that is going to take many, many hours and I have to have sufficient disk space, but it this possible?

I did wonder whether it would be possible to modify the standard convert script to convert to to MP3 without deleting the original FLAC or updating the library?

Thanks in advance,

Kendal

You might wonder if you really need a second collection.
A lot of media players can do transcoding: you select the songs to be transferred to the portable and the player convert them from FLAC to e.g. MP3 on the fly.

Anyway,
- get access to the music folder of the HF (Sonos mode)
- let a media player point to this directory
- select the songs to be transferred.

You need a media player supporting FLAC. Have a look at the J River jukebox: http://thewelltemperedcomputer.com/SW/Players/MJ12.htm

Alternative: use dpPoweramp to do the conversion once.
Observe that anytime a tag changes on the HF, you run out of sync.

Hi,

Thanks for the info, the reason why I want a second collection is for my portable MP3 player, even a really, really big player has 64GB of storage, and this is no-where near enough to hold my entire collection!

:)

Hard as you may find it to believe, I don't actually own a desktop computer which I can use to convert my FLACS to MP3, having a standalone system is what attracted me to the Hifidelio in the first place!

I was hoping that there would be an elegant solution on the Hifidelio, so I could set the thing running to a portable hard drive and leave it going for a week..

Thanks again

Kendal
